Art Classes / Painting
Whether you’re an avid painter or a novice looking to learn, you’ll be able embrace the surroundings and further your skills at Ashbrook Apartments. Residents meet weekly in a secluded area, surrounded by landscapes, portraits, and other works of art painted by residents. Outside class time, you can make use of the space any time you wish to continue painting.
On a table in the main foyer you will find a scrapbook full of pictures of residents at various events held at Ashbrook Apartments. The scrapbook is put together and continually updated by the residents for all to look at and enjoy.
Craft and Sewing
Enjoy making blankets, teddy bears or other arts and crafts in the beautiful setting of Ashbrook Apartments’ atrium. Many of the arts and crafts produced are provided to charity, so you can enjoy your craft in the company of other residents, knowing you’re helping people in need.
Carpet bowls is a wonderful way for residents to catch up, relax and have fun. Both Men’s and Ladies carpet bowls are held weekly.
For experienced Mah Jong players or novices, this weekly get together provides a perfect opportunity for residents to increase their Mah Jong skills and have fun.
Spend a relaxing afternoon playing bridge and enjoying a glass of wine or cold beer from the sports bar.
Exercise is important for everyone and Tai Chi is a great option for seniors because it’s low impact. Come and learn Tai Chi under the watchful guidance of a professional instructor in Ashbrook Apartments’ dining area on the top floor: A peaceful and quiet setting to enjoy relaxing music and low impact, mind-focussing exercise.
8 Ball Monday to Thursday
Just turn up at 4.pm to join in with others around the two pool tables up in the Sports Bar.
Held weekly on Fridays at 5pm this is an excellent way to meet your neighbours and relax.
For the energetically inclined, held once a week upstairs. No need to get in the car to drive to the gym any more.
The Social club organise functions, as well as individuals, and it is up to you what you participate in. These include organised luncheons, fashion parades, Bar-b-ques, quiz nights, themed dinners and happy hours. The Monday Melodies meet once a month, and the Beetles & Games afternoon is another monthly involvement. On top of this, excursions are organised, such as trips to the Barossa, and the Art Gallery. Recently the Adelaide Youth orchestra performed at the Ashbrook, as well as local choirs.
Of course if you want to organise something yourself, it is up to you – at the Ashbrook apartments.
